Dear Friends:
In the past three (gasp!) years, you have followed my culinary journeys and mommy adventures. I greatly appreciate all of your feedback, warmth and loyalty.
I will be taking a break from this little blog for a few months. I have become a person I never, ever, never-in-a-million-years thought I would become: A member of my kid's nursery school parents' association. I always saw those moms as uber-organized and having impeccable manicures. Not the me I thought I was.
It all began last year with the cookbook project. Besides being a ton of fun, I caught the volunteer-for-school bug. This year I've been working on fundraising projects and helping out wherever I can. The school's library project has enabled me to get involved with kid's reading; the Hurricane Sandy relief saw me organizing a toy drive, followed by a ride out to Brooklyn during Chanukah; there was the incredibly fun night when we hosted Jenny Rosentrach at the JCC. In all, I've been happy and fulfilled with these duties.
Now, however, I've entered the big leagues. I've signed on as Chairperson for our fundraising gala. Budgets, committees, meetings. All that kind of stuff that doesn't sound like me but actually now kind of is me. So, I'll need to put my blog on the back burner. Get it? Back burner/cooking blog?
I will see you in the spring, hopefully having learned how to throw a big party without making a total ass of myself.

How to throw a big party without making an ass of oneself sounds like a totally blogworthy topic. I look forward to a future report on that. Meanwhile, have fun with your volunteer work, I'm sure your sense of humor will benefit everyone involved. :)
ReplyDeleteThank you, Robin! I'll still be following you and commenting!
ReplyDeleteHi Jodi, Just catching up and seeing this. I know that these things are really serious business. Here's to a successful event, and to seeing you back here very soon!
